Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation

Transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS) is a non-invasive method used to treat chronic pain.

It involves placement of electrodes over the skin that are attached to a small hand held controller that sends mild electrical pulses.

Pain relief is achieved by exciting the nerves that transmit pain, which then activates certain natural pain relief systems.

TENS is safe.
